The short version…

The idea of Buy Cook Eat started in 2020 by Monique Neville, a university qualified Nutritionist with a Health Science (Food & Nutrition) Bachelors Degree from Charles Sturt University.

Monique has always been passionate about cooking, nutrition and health. She decided to combine these passions and turn them into a small service based business that could help the local and online community.

The Long Version…

Monique has been married to Andrew Neville for over 20 years and they have three adult children. The family moved to Lithgow in 2000, before moving to Portland in 2001 as Andrew was transferred there with the CBA.

Over the next two decades, Monique enjoyed raising three children. While caring for and running a household for a family of five, Monique developed skills in meal planning, shopping on a budget, cooking, baking, and more. She enjoyed juggling a busy family life with activities, sports, and being active as a volunteer on many management committees in the local community. Monique also assisted Andrew with his business, ANT Fitness, which was established in 2005.

During this time Monique also completed a Cooking Demonstrator course, a Vegetarian Cooking Course and then started the Health Science degree in July 2011, which was challenging but rewarding as she spent the next six years studying part-time.

At University, Monique majored in Human Nutrition and Food Science. After Graduating with Distinction in August 2017, Monique gained practical experience in Aged Care in the Home Care Sector. Monique started as a Community Care Worker to improve the quality of life for older adults by assisting them to stay in their own homes as long as possible. Monique was promoted to Service Support Officer, and then a Care Manager, managing over 100 clients and 20 staff across the Central West of NSW.

Monique also spent time volunteering with the the Cancer Councils ‘Eat It To Beat It’ program, running their ‘Healthy Lunch Box’ Sessions and ‘Fruit & Veg Sense’ Workshops across the Central West NSW until August 2018 when the program was retired.

In Mid 2020, Monique transitioned from the Aged Care Sector to refocus on her passion for Food and Nutrition. Monique decided that it was time to establish her own business combining her passions and experience: the food and nutrition degree; the aged care home care knowledge; and the home making skills.

Monique also wanted the flexibility running her own business could provide so she could balance family time, fitness, personal health and other interests.

Monique completed a business course and started building and developing Buy Cook Eat.

Monique is proud to launch this small service based food and nutrition business, Buy Cook Eat (BCE) with plans to continue to grow and add additional services and products over time.

A Word From The Owner of BCE:

“I’m really excited to be offering a face to face Food and Nutrition Service to the local community as well as an online service option. I look forward to cutting through the food and nutrition confusion as well as providing practical assistance to those in need”
